Transparency International — Corruption Perceptions Index 2025: Kuwait (46/100, 65th of 182, unchanged)

THE SCORE. "Kuwait has a score of 46 this year, with a change of 0 since last year, meaning it ranks 65 out of 182 countries." The CPI 2025 was released on 10 February 2026 (Transparency International's press release for the Middle East and North Africa, "Stronger institutions, freer civic space needed").

THE INDEX. The CPI ranks 182 countries and territories by perceived levels of public-sector corruption, on a scale of 0 to 100. In 2025 the global average fell to a new low of 42 and more than two-thirds of countries scored below 50.

IN KUWAIT. Transparency International's chapter is the Kuwait Transparency Society (reaccreditation concluded February 2026), which runs an Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre for reporting corruption.

USE IN A REPORT: a widely used perception indicator for country-risk sections. Cite the edition year and score together.

The CPI measures perceptions of public-sector corruption drawn from expert and business surveys; it is not a measure of how well Kuwait's anti-money-laundering system works. For that, cite the FATF's February 2026 decision to place Kuwait under increased monitoring (on the Dossier).
